President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu inaugurates 'Saushrutam 2026'; calls for integration of traditional wisdom with modern science to strengthen evidence-based Ayurveda
President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated ‘Saushrutam 2026’, a three‑day international seminar on Ayurvedic surgery at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi. The event, organised by the Ministry of AYUSH on Sushruta Jayanti, brought together surgeons, researchers and policymakers from India and eight other countries. The President also opened an AI‑enabled 3 Tesla high‑field MRI facility at AIIA and oversaw the release of an NCISM study on the professional careers of female Ayurveda graduates. She highlighted the need to preserve medicinal‑plant biodiversity, integrate traditional knowledge with modern science, and increase women’s participation in the Ayurveda workforce. Senior officials underscored Ayurveda’s global recognition and the role of evidence‑based research and international collaboration.
