Cabinet approves development of 6 lane Greenfield Elevated Corridor & Ramps/Loops & Foot Over Bridge between National Highway-19 and Varanasi Ring Road in Uttar Pradesh on Hybrid Annuity Model at total Capital Cost of Rs.14447.64 Crore under NH(O)
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved a 46.039 km, six‑lane Greenfield Elevated Corridor linking National Highway‑19 with the Varanasi Ring Road in Uttar Pradesh. Implemented under the Hybrid Annuity Model, the project costs Rs 14,447.64 crore (civil works Rs 6,037.85 crore, land acquisition Rs 541.11 crore). It includes a 910 m cable‑stayed bridge, a 1.32 km extradosed foot‑over‑bridge, loops, ramps and service roads, and is designed for 80‑100 km/h speed, cutting travel time between NH‑19 and Kashi Railway Station from ~50 minutes to ~25 minutes. Aligned with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, the corridor aims to decongest Varanasi, improve multimodal connectivity to airports, ports and railway hubs, and boost tourism, logistics efficiency and regional economic growth.
