Cabinet approves two multitracking projects covering Four Districts across Odisha and Jharkhand, increasing the existing network of Indian Railways by about 145 Kms

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved two railway multitracking projects – Paradeep‑Haridaspur doubling and Rajkharsawan‑Dangoaposi fourth line – with an estimated cost of approximately Rs 3,907 crore, to be completed by 2030‑31. The projects will add about 145 km to the Indian Railways network across four districts in Odisha and Jharkhand, enhancing connectivity for roughly 1,526 villages (≈14 lakh people) and tourist sites such as Lalitgiri Buddhist Complex and Shree Baladevjew Temple. They aim to boost freight capacity by 44 MTPA, reduce oil imports by 6 crore litres, and cut CO₂ emissions by 29 crore kg – an impact equated to planting 1 crore trees.
