Safe Workplace & High Value Jobs characterise India's Chip Ecosystem as we are Emerging as Trusted Global Hub in Electronics & Semiconductor
The Ministry of Electronics & IT announced that the Semicon India Programme, approved in December 2021 with an outlay of ₹76,000 crore, is expanding to a second phase (Semicon India Programme 2.0) to build a complete semiconductor ecosystem in India. Twelve semiconductor projects have been approved across six states, with three facilities – Micron ATMP, Kaynes Semicon and CG Power OSAT – already in commercial production. The programme now targets the entire value chain – design, fabrication, advanced packaging, equipment, materials, research and talent development – and aims to meet a projected domestic semiconductor market of $200 billion by 2035. Initiatives such as the Design Linked Incentive, Chips‑to‑Startup skilling, and collaborations with global partners (e.g., United States, Japan, Europe) underpin the drive for self‑reliance, high‑value jobs and integration into global supply chains.
