AIIMS Nagpur Strengthens Community-Based De-Addiction Services Through Multi-Stakeholder Initiative

AIIMS Nagpur, through its Addiction Treatment Facility and Department of Psychiatry, convened a multi‑stakeholder meeting with the Pravah Foundation and Nagpur Rural Police on 15 July 2026. Chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Prashant P. Josya, the initiative seeks to enhance community‑based de‑addiction services by reducing stigma, raising awareness that addiction is a treatable medical condition, and facilitating timely access to treatment. The police will refer individuals identified with substance‑use problems to AIIMS Nagpur for evaluation and treatment, with referrals beginning on the day of the meeting. Participants pledged coordinated action among health institutions, police, and community groups to expand awareness, strengthen rehabilitation, and build a healthier, addiction‑free community.
