31st Divya Kala Mela Inaugurated In Kolkata, West Bengal

Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar inaugurated the 31st Divya Kala Mela in Kolkata on July 14 2026, marking the first joint initiative of the Government of India and the Government of West Bengal. The eight‑day event, featuring about 40 stalls of artisans, aims to provide a national platform for persons with disabilities (Divyangjan) to showcase their artistic and entrepreneurial skills, thereby promoting dignity, self‑reliance and economic empowerment. The Minister highlighted that since 2014, financial assistance of nearly ₹1,462 crore has reached around 1.82 lakh Divyang beneficiaries, and underscored the NAMASTE Scheme’s role in improving safety and social security for sanitation workers.
