North East Witnesses Unprecedented Expansion of Science & Technology Infrastructure under Prime Minister Narendra Modi: Dr. Jitendra Singh

Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted a ten‑year expansion of scientific infrastructure in the North East, noting the rise from two weather radars (one in Meghalaya) before 2014 to 13 today, and the increase in seismological observatories from 84 to 171. New lightning detection stations have been set up in Meghalaya and Tripura, and NECTAR’s Geo‑Informatics Laboratory, equipped with 17 advanced drones, has mapped over 2,000 sq km for forest carbon, biodiversity, mining restoration and disaster resilience. The ministry also showcased a Mobile Food Processing Unit, a soil‑testing laboratory serving 2,500 farmers, and a STEM lab that has reached 25,000 students, training over 4,500 youths in emerging technologies.
