Ministry of Panchayati Raj promotes Financial Self-Reliance of Panchayats through Virtual Outreach Workshops in Seven States
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj conducted virtual outreach workshops on 13‑14 July 2026 under the Atmanirbhar Panchayat programme, involving participants from Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The workshops explained the programme’s vision, objectives and framework for enhancing Panchayat Own Source Revenue (OSR). Eligible Gram Panchayats (minimum OSR ₹50 lakh) and Block Panchayats (minimum OSR ₹1 crore) with at least three years of tenure can submit innovative revenue‑generation project proposals. Selected proposals receive technical support and financing through PPP, CSR, bank loans and convergence with government schemes, with NABARD and HUDCO acting as institutional partners. The outreach now covers ten states, adding Telangana, Gujarat and Kerala to the earlier‑covered states.
