Ministry of Mines to Launch Eighth Tranche of Auction of Critical and Strategic Mineral Blocks

The Ministry of Mines will launch the eighth tranche of auction for critical and strategic mineral blocks on 15 July 2026 in New Delhi. The tranche comprises 20 blocks across nine states, featuring minerals such as molybdenum, graphite, rare‑earth elements, vanadium, lithium and others that are vital for clean energy, advanced manufacturing, fertilisers and defence. With seven tranches completed, 56 of the 88 blocks earmarked for auction have been allotted, giving a success rate of over 63%. The government has also amended the Mineral (Auction) Rules, 2026 to streamline payment timelines, lease execution and refund processes, aiming to improve ease of doing business and attract investors.
