Union Labour Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurates 15th BRICS Trade Union Forum Summit in Hyderabad

Union Labour Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the 15th BRICS Trade Union Forum Summit in Hyderabad, urging a worker‑centric global order guided by social justice, responsible innovation and human dignity. He highlighted India’s BRICS Presidency theme – “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability” – and reiterated the government’s labour reforms that merged 29 laws into four Labour Codes, introducing universal minimum wages, formal recognition of gig workers and digital compliance. The Minister cited the e‑Shram portal’s registration of over 317 million unorganised workers and the National Career Service Portal as digital tools for labour governance. Social protection coverage rose from 19 % in 2015 to over 64 % in 2025 (≈940 million people) and is projected to exceed one billion in 2026. The summit, attended by delegates from all BRICS nations, will discuss universal social security, AI‑governed technology, skill development and women’s participation in the future of work.
