Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation Shri Murlidhar Mohol chaired the First Convocation of ‘Tribhuvan’ Sahkari University at Anand, Gujarat

The Ministry of Cooperation, led by Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation Shri Murlidhar Mohol, convened the first convocation of ‘Tribhuvan’ Sahkari University in Anand, Gujarat. The university, described as the country’s first national university dedicated to the cooperative sector, awarded graduate degrees to 302 students and PhDs to 2 students. The Minister highlighted that India has over 8.5 lakh cooperative societies with more than 32 crore members, and that the sector will need over 17 lakh trained youth in the coming years. He cited initiatives such as establishing two lakh multipurpose PACS, expanding cooperative models into new areas like organic farming and digital services, and the financial assistance provided by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (approximately Rs 4.5 lakh crore from 2014‑2025).
