NESAC's Space-Based Applications Strengthening Border Management and Driving Development Across Northeast: Dr. Jitendra Singh
Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted that the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) is undertaking geospatial mapping of the India‑Myanmar border and inter‑state boundaries in the Northeast. The Centre is implementing nearly 130 space‑application projects, of which about 50 are recently completed and 78 are ongoing, covering agriculture, forestry, water resources, geosciences, urban planning, satellite communication, UAV applications, disaster management and capacity‑building. NESAC is also pursuing a bamboo‑mapping programme to strengthen the bamboo value chain, and aims to improve its flood early‑warning system and promote water‑harvesting models such as the Ramakrishna Mission initiative in Cherrapunjee. The Minister urged deeper collaboration with state governments, ministries, academia and the private sector to translate space technology into developmental solutions for the Northeast.
