First Release of sub – sectoral Trial Index of Services Production (ISP) (Base Year 2024 -25)

The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released the first trial Index of Services Production (ISP) for 19 sub‑sectors for April 2026, covering about 60 % of India’s formal services sector. The ISP, with base year 2024‑25, provides a monthly measure of short‑term movements in services output. Four sub‑sectors – Accommodation & Food (37.2 % growth), Retail Trade (30.8 %), Administrative & Support Services (28.7 %) and Real Estate (27.7 %) – recorded the strongest increases, while 14 of the 19 sub‑sectors posted double‑digit growth. The index is compiled using GST, administrative data and the Annual Survey of Incorporated Services Sector Enterprises, with deflators drawn from WPI or sector‑specific CPIs. The Technical Advisory Committee on ISP (constituted May 2025) guided the methodology.
