From Infrastructure Creation to Service Delivery: DDWS Holds 10th District Collectors' Peyjal Samvad

The Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation (DDWS) organised the 10th District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad via video‑conference to discuss accelerating Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0. The meeting, chaired by Secretary Shri Ashok K.K. Meena, highlighted the shift from infrastructure creation to sustainable, community‑led rural piped water service delivery. Key directives included fast‑tracking certification of Har Ghar Jal Gram Panchayats, institutionalising annual Jal Arpan events, digitising asset mapping through the Sujalam Bharat Digital Registry linked to the PM Gati Shakti portal, and strengthening O&M by Gram Panchayats and Village Water & Sanitation Committees. Best‑practice presentations from five districts (Kinnaur, Haveri, Dumka, South Goa, Unakoti) showcased innovations such as GIS‑based monitoring, DBOT schemes, smart water utilities, and community‑led governance mechanisms.
