Udyam Registration Portal and the Udyam Assist Platform, two landmark digital initiatives of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises are formalizing enterprises, expanding access to Government support and strengthening the MSME ecosystem

The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises has launched two digital initiatives – the Udyam Registration Portal and the Udyam Assist Platform – to formalise MSMEs. The portal offers a free, paper‑less, self‑declaration registration that generates an e‑certificate with a unique Udyam Registration Number. The Assist Platform enables informal micro enterprises, including those without GST or Income‑Tax registration, to obtain formal recognition through authorised partners such as banks and NBFCs. Registered enterprises gain access to government schemes, institutional credit, protection against delayed payments via the MSME ODR Portal, public procurement opportunities, quality and technology support, and market promotion. The initiatives aim to empower women, SC/ST entrepreneurs, rural enterprises, traditional artisans, first‑generation entrepreneurs and youth‑led start‑ups, contributing to inclusive growth. As of the release, more than 8.9 crore enterprises have been registered, employing over 38 crore people.
