Joint Committee on the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty–Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024 and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 Holds Stakeholder Consultations in Goa

On 10 July 2026, the Joint Committee on the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty‑Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024 and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 conducted stakeholder consultations in Goa. Chaired by Shri P P Chaudhary, the Committee met the State Political Executive, the Chief Minister and cabinet ministers, senior state officials, the Chief Electoral Officer, political party representatives, academia, legal experts, and industry bodies such as ASSOCHAM, FICCI and CII. Discussions focused on administrative, logistical, financial and governance implications of simultaneous elections, and the Committee asked state departments to study staggered versus simultaneous election effects before finalising its report.
