Major General Varun Malhotra Assumes Command of HQ Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area

Major General Varun Malhotra assumed command of the Headquarters Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area on 10 July 2026. He was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers (Bengal Sappers) in 1994 and has over three decades of service, including command, instructional and staff roles, and a stint as an instructor at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. After taking charge, he met officers and ranks, praised their professionalism and urged heightened operational preparedness. The sub‑area headquarters is expected to benefit from his experience as it pursues infrastructure development, operational readiness and organisational excellence.
