NHRC, India hears online 86 cases of alleged bonded labour in Haryana brick kilns
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) heard 86 online cases of alleged bonded labour in brick kilns across Haryana districts. The hearing was chaired by Justice V. Ramasubramanian and attended by senior officials including Joint Secretary Shri Samir Kumar, Joint Registrar Shri Indrajeet Kumar, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Rastogi, Labour Commissioner Shri Vijaykumar Bhavikatti and the District Magistrates. The Chairperson noted inadequate examination of records, urged vigilance, and stressed implementation of the Ministry of Labour and Employment’s SOP (dated 14 May 2026) and the NHRC’s ‘Advisory 2.0’. A helpline for labourers was also advocated. State officials assured that all 86 cases would be reviewed and that Supreme Court directives and applicable laws would be fully complied with.
