Prime Minister visits the Melbourne Cricket Ground for a Sporting event

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 10 July 2026 with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Victoria Premier Jacinta Allan. The leaders jointly released the India‑Australia Sports Collaboration Roadmap, which aims to promote cooperation in sports training, capacity building, sports science and technology, and sports industry investment, and to organise an India‑Australia Youth Sports Festival. Modi highlighted the role of sports in strengthening people‑to‑people ties and noted upcoming major events – India’s Commonwealth Games 2030 and Australia’s Brisbane Olympics 2032 – as opportunities for deeper bilateral cooperation.
