Hon’ble Vice President of India launched the Letter of Authorisation (LoA) for Sustainable Harnessing of Fisheries in the High Seas and Odisha Deep Sea Fishing Mission Document

On 9 July 2026, the Vice President launched the Letter of Authorisation (LoA) for Sustainable Harnessing of Fisheries in the High Seas and the Odisha Deep Sea Fishing Mission Document in Bhubaneswar. The LoA provides a vessel‑specific, online, non‑transferable licence for Indian‑flagged vessels to fish in the EEZ and high seas, aiming to open access to high‑value marine resources such as tuna, ensure traceability, and meet Regional Fisheries Management Organisation norms. The launch underscores the Union Budget 2025‑26’s focus on the Blue Economy, highlights over ₹39,000 crore invested in fisheries, and seeks to strengthen Fish Farmer Producer Organisations and cooperatives for inclusive livelihood generation and increased seafood exports.
