Three Maharashtra Women SHGs Showcase Seafood Products at Seafood Expo Bharat 2026

Three women‑led Self‑Help Groups (Matsyakanya SHG – Gavhan, Raigad; Vishwakarma SHG – Shirgaon, Ratnagiri; Shri Siddhi Vinayak SHG – Chatale, Palghar) from Maharashtra displayed value‑added seafood products at Seafood Expo Bharat 2026 in Chennai (July 1‑3). Their participation was under the Enhancing Climate Resilience of India’s Coastal Communities (ECRICC) project, led by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change with support from the Green Climate Fund and UNDP India; the Maharashtra Forest Department’s Mangrove Cell is the nodal agency. The expo, organised by MPEDA, attracted over 100 visitors, including Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister A. Srinath and Maldives Minister of State Dr. Amzath Ahmed, who praised the products. ECRICC provides financial aid, skill training, exposure visits and market linkages to strengthen sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable coastal women.
