Union Environment Minister chairs 46th Meeting of Central Zoo Authority at Coimbatore
Union Environment Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav chaired the 46th meeting of the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) in Coimbatore, presenting the Authority’s key achievements and strategic priorities for FY 2026‑27. The meeting examined proposals for zoo modernisation, new zoological facilities, enhanced visitor education, scientific planning and infrastructure development. Deliberations included the second cycle of Management Effectiveness Evaluation by six teams, a concept note for a CCMB‑LaCONES animal biobank network, issues on National Zoological Park modernisation, SOPs for zoo veterinarians and handlers, a draft National Wildlife Health Policy, a CSR‑fund utilisation report, and enforcement against unauthorised possession of non‑native CITES‑listed species. The Minister also released the CZA newsletter highlighting milestones in conservation breeding, wildlife health, scientific management and capacity building.
