Department of Telecommunications' Samriddh Gram Wins WSIS Prize 2026 under Action Line C6 – Enabling Environment

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) was declared the global winner of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2026 under Action Line C6 – Enabling Environment for its flagship project “Samriddh Gram: Integrated Phygital Service Delivery Model Enabled by BharatNet.” The award was presented at the WSIS Forum 2026 in Geneva and recognises the initiative’s use of BharatNet’s rural broadband to deliver health, education, financial, agricultural and e‑governance services through village‑level Samriddhi Kendras. The Union Minister for Communications highlighted the project’s role in converting connectivity into socio‑economic outcomes and underscored its alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an inclusive Digital India.
