India-Australia Joint Declaration on Defence and Security Cooperation

The Prime Ministers of India and Australia have issued a Joint Declaration on Defence and Security Cooperation, reaffirming the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) launched in 2020 and building on the 2009 Security Cooperation Declaration. The declaration outlines accelerated defence collaboration, including higher‑complexity joint exercises, increased interoperability, expanded aircraft deployments, and deeper personnel exchanges. It emphasizes maritime security through a dedicated roadmap, promotes cooperation in cyber, critical and emerging technologies under the Australia‑India PACTS, and commits to enhanced information sharing on terrorism and counter‑extremism. The partners also pledge to advance women’s participation in peace and security, strengthen humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, and support regional stability in the Indo‑Pacific via multilateral forums such as the Quad, IORA, ASEAN and the Pacific Islands Forum.
