India-Australia Joint Statement on Energy Security

The Joint Statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office on 9 July 2026 reaffirms India and Australia’s commitment to energy security within the Indo‑Pacific. Both countries will deepen bilateral energy trade and investment through the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA), the ongoing Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) and other frameworks, recognising Australia as a key LNG supplier and India as a supplier of liquid fuels. Administrative arrangements have been finalised for the export of Australian uranium to India for peaceful purposes under IAEA safeguards. The statement also stresses cooperation on renewable energy, low‑carbon fuels, and regional supply‑chain resilience, including support for Pacific Island nations.
