Prime Minister meets with the Governor General of Australia

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met the Governor‑General of Australia, Hon. Ms Sam Mostyn AC, in Melbourne on 9 July 2026. The leaders exchanged views on the deepening India‑Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, welcomed the expanding economic partnership and expressed confidence that greater trade, investment, education and innovation linkages will generate tangible benefits. They also noted the growing sporting ties and urged closer cooperation ahead of the Commonwealth Games 2030 in India and the Olympics 2032 in Australia. The Prime Minister highlighted the vibrant people‑to‑people links as a strength of the relationship and thanked the Governor‑General for her support in advancing bilateral relations.
